Overview of EPC Water Pressure Systems

The EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) freshwater pressure system features automatic start and stop controls. The pump ceases operation when water is unavailable and resumes as soon as water is detected. This system is suitable for vessels ranging from 13 to 25 meters in length and includes a pump along with a bronze impeller.

Designed for use in both fresh and saltwater, EPC water pressure systems are widely utilized in the maritime industry. They provide a consistent water pressure for various onboard appliances, including showers, sinks, and toilets.

Introduction to EPC Water Pressure Systems

The EPC unit operates with less noise than traditional mechanical switches due to a float mechanism that absorbs the hammer action of the impeller. The pressure settings for starting and stopping the pump are factory pre-set, meaning no adjustments can be made after installation. However, it offers protection against dry running.

This design allows for a smaller accumulator, making it an excellent choice for vessels with limited space. Please note that the EPC system is not compatible with three-phase motors, which may be a limitation for some boats. An accumulator is recommended to store pressure within the system and reduce the frequency of motor operation.

Operating Details of EPC Water Pressure Systems

C.E.M. manufactures water pressure systems featuring the EPC electronic control system, designed for the automatic management of the pump. The EPC automatically controls the start and stop functions of the pump when pressure drops or when the water supply is interrupted. This system offers several advantages:

• The pump automatically stops when water supply is depleted, preventing harmful dry running.
• Continuous operation monitoring through warning lights: The green “Line” light indicates that the pump is on. The red “Fault” light signals that the pump is off due to an issue (e.g., lack of water).
• Maintains a constant pressure during water distribution.
• Smaller overall dimensions compared to traditional water pressure systems that utilize tanks.

If the pump stops due to lack of water, the EPC device will attempt brief starts at regular intervals to check for available water. If the pump can draw water during one of these attempts (up to four), it will resume normal operation. After four failed attempts, the EPC will completely stop the pump, which can only be restarted by pressing the “reset” button.
